Housed in a classic Menorcan finca (farmhouse) at the end of a winding country lane, Vestige Son Vell feels both tranquil and elegant. The buildings date back to the 18th century and have been restored with careful attention to detail. Original features like the old well and chimney highlight the estate’s traditional architecture and rich history. This authenticity continues inside, with guest rooms and suites decorated using handmade terracotta tiles and neutral tones. At the same time, you’ll find all the modern amenities you need for a luxurious stay.

Outside, the hotel’s expansive manicured gardens provide plenty of space to unwind. You could go for a dip in one of the three pools, stroll down to the pebble beach, or watch a film under the stars at the outdoor cinema. And with more staff on site than guests, you’ll find the service impeccable whatever you’re doing.

Vestige Son Vell’s two restaurants place great emphasis on farm-to-table dining, with menus that showcase local seasonal ingredients. You’ll also see a focus on sustainability in initiatives like the hotel’s use of renewable power, with solar panels and geothermal wells generating around 60% of the property’s energy.

OUR OPINION:

We were swept away by Son Vell’s bucolic coastal setting, as well as the attention to detail in the design and decor. The hotel goes above and beyond when it comes to both service and sustainability.

Rooms

Vestige Son Vell has eight room categories to choose between, spread across the main finca and five separate outbuildings. These range from deluxe double rooms to spacious suites, all furnished with neutral tones and modern conveniences. Rustic stone walls, ornate doors, and exposed wooden beams give the rooms a traditional elegance. Meanwhile, natural materials and a geothermal air-conditioning system highlight the hotel’s focus on sustainability. Rooms on the upper floor of the main finca offer views over the grounds and toward the coast, while garden suites feature private terraces where you can relax and watch the sunset.

Location

Set on two sq km (a little under a sq mile) of land, Vestige Son Vell puts you in the heart of the Menorcan countryside, linking directly to the Cala de Son Vell cove and historic Camí de Cavalls path. Sandy San Saura beach is a 35-minute walk or 15-minute cycle away. You’re also a 20-minute drive from the port city of Ciutadella, with its selection of bars, restaurants, shops, and attractions.
