Situated in the Raa Atoll, Dhigali Maldives is a leafy private island surrounded by turquoise waters, soft white sand and a vibrant house reef. The island is just a 45-minute seaplane flight from Malé, and is a relaxing retreat from the moment you arrive. A modern transformation has seen Dhigali break away from the typical island style of thatched roofs, and instead the 180 rooms here are all contemporary, cube-shaped villas — either on the beach or over-water. The design is minimalist and fresh throughout the resort; clean white lines are broken with splashes of bright plants, flowers and soft furnishings. Dhigali sets itself apart by being a premium, all-inclusive island with something to appeal to both couples and families.
We found Dhigali Maldives a refreshing and stylish resort with the food in particular, a real plus, including little touches like a children’s buffet and sorbet service to your sun lounger. We recommend a drink at Haali Bar at sunset to the sound of local musicians.

Rooms
Dhigali Maldives offers eight different room types in their 180-strong portfolio. Each suite, villa or bungalow is nestled between the beachfront fauna or over the water, with 41 of them offering their own private pool. Each room is stylishly designed in a contemporary and minimalist manner with their natural palette accentuated by the odd flare of orange or blue hues among the natural textiles and modern furniture. Each room has a spaciously sized bathroom equipped with a rainfall shower, and an equally generous minibar, which is included in the price. Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and king-sized beds come as standard. For those looking for a more private stay, we recommend the overwater lagoon villas or suites.

Facilities and activities
Included in Dhigali Maldives' all-inclusive package are a plethora of activities. Excursions include sunset and dolphin discovery tours, glass bottom boats or fishing trips with evening offerings such as private beach dinners, live entertainment and a cinema under the stars. Active guests can enjoy yoga, water aerobics and a fitness center, along with water-based activities like windsurfing, catamaran excursions*, kayaking and paddleboarding. For those looking for a slightly slower pace, the on-site spa offers a range of treatments and relaxation rooms alongside an outdoor pool with adjoining day beds. (*Please note that some motorized water sports and excursions are an additional cost.)
Accessibility
Due to its sandy pathways, we would not advise wheelchair users visit Dhigali Maldives. While the main tracks are graded and somewhat solid, there are a few steps to the restaurants and communal areas.
Environmental and social responsibility
Preservation of the island’s flora and fauna has always been at the forefront of Dhigali Maldives' initiatives, with the ‘jungle’ enveloping the island left untouched during the construction and development of the resort. The indigenous varieties of plants are obvious as you explore and are home to more than 20 species of birds. The resort’s flat roofed guest rooms cater to the environment through their design, allowing more ergonomic and functional efficiency. They have reduced their plastic usage and upped their recycling processes, use LED lights throughout the island, and replenish the soil with all their green and organic waste. Dhigali Maldives is committed to supporting the local community too, hiring team members from nearby islands and supporting local artists through the resort’s music, entertainment and activities.
Diving
Dhigali Maldives’ location in the Raa Atoll offers an impressive house reef to explore through gentle snorkeling, or with their PADI dive center which offers training courses and guided or unguided expeditions. The reef starts just three to four meters from the beach and swiftly drops to depths of around 20-25 meters, where different corals and marine life such as tuna, eagle rays, turtles and black tip reef sharks can be spotted.
Spa Facilities
Cocooned by palm trees and set in the middle of the island is the Dhigali SPA, which focuses on healing and energising guests through therapies drawing on indigenous traditions. Its extensive offerings include an array of treatments, a steam room, a relaxation lounge and an outdoor pool equipped with daybeds set in the luscious gardens.
