Discover Cornwall’s bounty of marine wildlife with a catamaran safari along its coastline and waterways.
The waters off the Cornish coast are rich in marine wildlife, from dolphins, porpoises, and seabirds to seasonal visitors including turtles, whales, sharks, and migratory birds. On this tour, you’ll join a small group of other visitors in an environmentally friendly, electric catamaran.
Your trip will be crewed by Captain Keith and his expert team of marine biologists, who track and chart these abundant creatures. The team will give you in-depth information about all the species that you see, answering your questions and offering you insights into the marine flora and fauna of this impressively biodiverse area of the UK.
You can choose from various trip options, including a three-hour exploration up the River Fal's estuary from Falmouth to Truro. Here, the river’s serene drifting will give you the chance to enjoy the hidden landmarks of this ancient waterway, seeing river creatures such as wading birds, seals, and maybe even the elusive otter.
Or, you can to head out to sea on a three-hour coastal adventure or a seven-hour ocean trip. On these, you’ll see the south Cornwall coastline and track wildlife, which might include everything from bottlenose dolphins to basking sharks, pilot whales to puffins.
The boat, Spirit of the Seas, skims smoothly across the water with minimal disruption to the wildlife. The spacious deck offers plenty of room for spotting sea life. After every trip, the crew shares details of the sightings with the marine biology team at Falmouth University, helping to protect and monitor this vital ecosystem.
