Photographic tour of the Cotswolds

Improve your photographic skills in one of England's most charming regions where rose-clad cottages, medieval market halls and handsome stone churches provide the ideal setting for the perfect shot. This one-to-one tour in the company of a local, professional photographer aims to help you capture the timeless charm of the Cotswolds and its beautiful villages and undulating hills.

Taking you to some less well-known locations where you can capture stunning images without the interruption of tour-bus crowds, you get expert tuition tailored to your skill level as well as the inside knowledge a local resident can bring.

This full-day tour starts at your hotel in the Cotswolds where you meet your local guide, a professional landscape photographer who has spent many years living in the area and has an intimate knowledge of the Cotswolds region. She shares some of this area’s most picturesque locations for photography, as well as providing tips and techniques to achieve successful images.

This one-to-one workshop will be tailored to your personal photographic needs and is designed to be both an enjoyable and successful day’s shooting. The day is fairly relaxed, but you will have the chance to create a number of images with constructive, hands-on expert advice.

The Cotswolds are particularly well known for their lush, rolling grazing land, which, in medieval times, brought enormous wealth to the area. At the time the region was the source of the finest wool in Europe and as the local merchants grew rich they built elaborate mansions and churches as well as villages of idyllic honey-stone cottages. As the wool trade declined and the region was subsequently largely bypassed by the Industrial Revolution, its thatched cottages, beautiful churches and stately mansions remained undisturbed.

In many villages low stone bridges cross meandering streams that run alongside streets flanked by romantic thatched cottages, lop-sided stone houses and age-old pubs with an endearing charm. The region is however, understandably popular with visitors, and although the main towns are undeniably picturesque they can be crowded.

Your local guide takes you to equally beautiful locations well off the beaten track so you can take your time to compose your shots, learn some new skills and record the incredible beauty of the region.

The villages you visit during the day are chosen with your guide depending on the weather and your preferences for taking photographs of the landscapes or architecture. There's time to stop for a picnic lunch, which is included, and you end the day by returning to your hotel and reviewing the images you have taken.
