Situated a short drive from the entrance of Grand Canyon National Park, surrounded by piñon and juniper forest, Under Canvas Grand Canyon provides a one-of-a-kind stay where you can fully immerse yourself in the great outdoors. Inspired by the African safari experience, the canvas tents at this secluded glampsite include daily housekeeping and fresh towels, large double beds, and in some cases, en suite bathrooms and wood-burning stoves for chilly nights. You can buy breakfast and dinner from Under Canvas's own café on site, while lunch boxes are also available to take away for picnic lunches. There's also a variety of places to eat in Tusayan.
The camp is very eco-conscious and strives to leave a minimal environmental footprint. Low-flow toilets, solar power, recycling procedures, and compostable materials all help to ensure that the land is left as untouched as possible.
This is an excellent place for getting off the grid and ideal if you're an intrepid adventurer looking for something unusual, though be aware there are only minimal modern amenities.

Rooms
Boasting an airy, minimal design with white canvas, wood floors, and simple wooden furniture, the intimate number of tents at Under Canvas Grand Canyon encourage you to immerse yourself in your natural surroundings while enjoying a novel glamping experience. Other than the standard safari tents, which share communal bathrooms, all options come with an en suite. Stargazer tents have a window above the bed so you can watch the night sky as you drift to sleep, while Suites offer more living space with the addition of a lounge area complete with sofa bed. There are also a number of tents which have a small separate tent attached for children. All furnishings are of excellent quality, and organic bath products are included too. There's no Wi-Fi or TV, allowing you to truly disconnect.
Location
The campsite is located a 30-minute drive from the South Rim entrance of Grand Canyon National Park, and is surrounded by pine and juniper forests. There are very limited dining options in the evening, so we recommend either dining at the site or eating at the South Rim before returning for the evening.
Food and drink
- Food and drink is available for purchase at the on-site café and is open for breakfast and dinner.
- You can order a picnic lunch the night before so it's freshly prepared for you in the morning.
- A fire pit adds atmosphere in the evening as you toast s'mores and trade tales.
Families
Several tents are well-suited to families, including spacious Suites with sofa beds, tents with three single beds, and those that interconnect with smaller kids' tents.
Facilities and activities
- We can arrange for you to do a range of activities during your stay here in the surrounding area. The camp also has its own Guest Experience Co-ordinator if you decide to do something at short notice. They can arrange daily activities including yoga, hiking, and nature walks.
