Kayaking on Columbia Glacier

Columbia Glacier Kayaking

Kayaking on Columbia Glacier

Search for wildlife such as whales, sea otters and sea lions as you take the two-hour transfer to the Columbia Glacier by water taxi. This is Alaska's second-largest tidewater glacier. Since the early 1980s the glacier has been retreating dramatically, leaving a 13 kilometer long field of floating icebergs. You will be dropped off near the moraine of the glacier to paddle around the icebergs.

Time is included for a lunch break and a short hike on the glacier's gravel moraine. Hot drinks and snacks are provided, however, lunch is not included. After the break you will continue exploring the coastline by kayak. The water taxi will return to Valdez after four or five hours of activity.

Please note, a minimum of four people is required for this tour and the total duration is ten hours.
