The Spindrift's homely charm and excellent location set it apart from other hotels in this area, with its rooftop and many of its rooms enjoying wonderful views out to sea, where whale and dolphin sightings aren't uncommon.
Some of California’s best fish and seafood restaurants are within easy walking distance, and the hotel's traditional decor and cozy, intimate atmosphere make this a perfect choice for anyone looking for a quiet, characterful stay in a central location.
This well located hotel has real charm — we love the quirky touches found throughout the property and the very classic American welcome you get when you arrive.

Rooms
Each room at the Spindrift has its own unique personality and individual quirks, as you'd expect from an old building. All are well-appointed with wooden floors, window seats and, in most cases, cozy wood-burning fireplaces, as well as marble en suite bathrooms and modern amenities such as TVs, minibars, complimentary Wi-Fi and safes.
There are several room categories, differing in size and view type. The Cannery Row View rooms overlook the historic street and have a king size bed with full or partial canopy, while Ocean View rooms come with either a king size bed or two queen size beds, enjoying wonderful views over Monterey Bay and McAbee Beach. The Deluxe Corner Ocean View Junior Suite offers the most space, with a king size bed in the main room and a queen size sofa bed in the adjoining parlor, which also has a half bathroom in addition to the main bathroom. It also has a sitting area looking out to the ocean, and a gas fireplace. Deluxe Corner Ocean View King rooms have the best views of the entire bay and beach. While smaller than the Junior Suite option, they offer more space than the other room types.
Location
For almost a century, the Spindrift Inn has been located on historical Cannery Row, right on the seafront of Monterey. Just a short walk from this boutique property are many restaurants, shops and galleries, as well as an aquarium.
Food and drink
Breakfast is complimentary during your stay, consisting of freshly baked pastries and breads, muffins and fruits served directly to your room. A wine and cheese reception is held in the lobby each afternoon, accompanied by freshly brewed coffee and tea. Although the Spindrift doesn't have an on site restaurant, it's surrounded by eateries that are easily reached on foot. The quaint neighboring town of Carmel is just a short drive from Monterey, where plenty of upmarket dining options can be found. Monterey is known for its fresh fish, and the Pacific Edge is a great nearby restaurant that offers a romantic setting with stunning ocean views and great food.
Facilities and activities
The hotel's rooftop garden is a lovely place to relax as you take in wonderful ocean views. In-room massages can be arranged, and a dry cleaning service is available.
