Built in the 1920s and named after the Nordic vikings who are believed to have landed in the town in around 1000 AD, Hotel Viking sits atop Newport's Historic Hill, overlooking Bellevue Avenue, and offers a blend of classical elegance and contemporary style. With high ceilings, luxurious interiors and facilities including an indoor heated pool, spa and gym, it provides everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Rooms

Rooms and suites here are indulgent and luxurious, individually decorated with period-inspired furnishings and stylish touches such as fireplaces, desks and Egyptian cotton sheets. They also feature modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, safes, air conditioning and Wi-Fi access. There are five guest room categories, which differ in size and location, with some housed in the property's original wing and others in newer sections of the building. The six suite types offer further space and luxury, with some able to accommodate families with extra beds or rooms.

Location

Set on the historic Newport Hill overlooking the mansions of Bellevue Avenue, Hotel Viking is just a short walk from Newport’s ‘Thame’ Street with its gas lantern-lined cobbled streets and fantastic restaurants and pubs.

Food and drink

The hotel's fabulous on site restaurant, One Bellevue, offers delicious afternoon tea and specials such as fresh catch of the day, a raw food bar, and tasty cuts of meat, all designed to complement the selection of wines on offer. Voted one of the best restaurants in Newport, it has two main dining areas, allowing you to eat in the Garden Room or One Bellevue Lounge. If the sun is shining you can enjoy panoramic views over the town from the Top of Newport Bar. In-room dining is also an option should you wish to eat in a more private setting.

Families

The kids' club at the hotel includes a welcome bag on arrival. There's a seasonal Family Fun Room and a children’s menu both at the spa and in the restaurant. Children under 12 are welcome to a free breakfast with an adult purchase, and the hotel offers discounts to some of the area's attractions. Rollaway beds and cribs can be provided on request, and many of the rooms and suites have additional space and bedding to suit families.

Facilities and activities

The hotel offers exciting excursions to help you get the best out of the area, from sailing, biking or cruising to a helicopter ride and vineyard tour. This is in addition to its fantastic on site spa facilities, pool and fitness center. You'll also have ample opportunity to visit the various historic mansions and museums in the area, and of course Newport’s stunning coastline.

A number of the rooms have accessibility features, including lower door handles, light switches and mirrors, roll-in showers or bathtubs with grab bars, strobe and sound fire alarms and TTY-TDD devices.
