Jekyll Island Club Resort

Jekyll Island, The US

Jekyll Island is the smallest of Georgia's barrier islands, yet perhaps the most naturally beautiful. A playground for turn of the century politicians, socialites and tycoons such as Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan, Astor, Vanderbilt and Pulitzer, today the island is home to the Jekyll Island Club Resort.

A beautiful and historic building set in gardens of subtropical plants and flowers, this hotel has lots of character. Inside the furnishings are ornate and traditional. The staff are proud to be part of the hotel's tradition and it shows, with excellent and dignified service.

The 157 rooms mean there is always an atmosphere in the hotel, but it tends to be a refined and slightly formal place, although always with guests having an enjoyable time. There is a wealth of facilities and leisure activities from carriage rides and croquet to golf, horse riding and walks in the oak forest. There are several dining options and places to enjoy a drink in the lovely surroundings.

OUR OPINION:

A gorgeous and quirky historic hotel, ideal for those that want to discover a part of the US away from Florida yet with similar beaches and climate. The hotel will appeal to those that like historic, grande dame hotels but perhaps less to those in search of a minimalist, modern bolthole.
