Aït Benhaddou & Telouet Tour
Aït Benhaddou & Telouet Tour
Visit two of Morocco's most famous kasbahs, Aït Benhaddou and Telouet, on a tour through the country's stunning Ouarzazate Valley.
Responsible Choice
This day trip from Marrakesh allows you to comfortably explore a large area of the High Atlas Mountains, their valleys and canyons and a few high passes, which will reward you with spectacular panoramic views.
After leaving Marrakesh, you'll travel through the village of Tahanaout, which hosts a local market every Tuesday. From its lush, fertile valley you'll head higher into the mountains through juniper and pine forests to the Sidi Fares region. Your guide will take you to a traditional earth-made village perched at an altitude of just over 1,800 metres, where you'll meet a local family and spend some time experiencing their way of life. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about their local customs and daily life; your guide will act as a translator.
You'll be served mint tea and also a traditional Amazigh lunch here by the family, before continuing onward, descending from the pass into the beautiful and verdant Ourika Valley. Here you'll stop at the village of Agounsane to visit the centre of the charity programme we work with in Morocco, which benefits local children, women and older men who want to further their otherwise limited education. You'll visit one of the schools to meet some children and their teacher, and will learn more about the programme and its aims from your guide.
From here, you'll embark on a short walk around the local area to visit some pottery makers and learn about this traditional craft. You'll have the opportunity to get some hands-on experience if you wish, before departing back to Marrakesh.
These activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences around where you're staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident's eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can suggest tours and activities that will introduce you to the local ways of life.
