Aït Benhaddou & Telouet Tour
Aït Benhaddou & Telouet Tour
Visit two of Morocco's most famous kasbahs, Aït Benhaddou and Telouet, on a tour through the country's stunning Ouarzazate Valley.
This half day tour is an excellent opportunity to discover some of the most photogenic areas of Marrakesh, exploring the city's backstreets and local highlights.
The trail first takes you to Bab Debbagh, one of the city's historical gates, inside which are located some traditional leather tanneries. Walking through this old part of town will take you through the fondouk quarter — medieval inns which were once used by merchants and travellers when they stayed in Marrakesh. You'll stop to visit the Museum of Photography, located in a renovated fondouk.
You'll then continue across Ben Youssef Square, through workshops of dyers, tinsmiths, leather makers and wood painters, before stopping at the Museum Douiria Mouassine, a gem of private architecture in Marrakesh. It dates back to the 16th century and has recently been restored. It now houses a temporary exhibition of Moroccan traditional arts and photography. Continue to Dar Cherifa, a medieval aristocratic house serving now as a museum of art showing temporary exhibits of paintings and photography, and where you'll break for a traditional Moroccan mint tea.
The tour ends with a stroll along Dar El Bacha Street, home to many art galleries.
