The Excelsior by Geisel offers its guest a warm, country-house-style stay in the heart of Munich. Located just steps from the city’s main train station and a short walk from sites like Stachus and Frauenkirche, it’s a good base from which to explore the city.
Though centrally located, the hotel is down a quiet street with soundproof windows to ensure a restful sleep. A family-owned hotel, the Excelsior welcomes you with a large warm wooden lobby desk, elegant French doors and marble steps with wrought-iron bannisters.
The hotel offers 114 rooms and suites that exude Bavarian charm with pastel-hued bathrooms, warm red-and-cream upholstery and antique furniture. It’s also home to Vinothek, a wine bar and restaurant that offers homemade pasta and other Mediterranean dishes.
We love the authentic Bavarian feel of this hotel and the details of the decor. The staff’s hospitality and the central location to Munich’s sites make it a great base for exploring the city.
