Auckland, New Zealand

Responsible Choice

We've hand-selected a range of tours and stays across the world that go above and beyond to be a force for good by supporting local businesses, educating staff, challenging local norms, or promoting conservation and biodiversity efforts. Your Responsible Choice helps increase the positive impact of your trip.

The rooms lined with timber and its handmade brick exterior make The Hotel Britomart a stylish and environmentally responsible hotel in Auckland. Ideally located, at the heart of the new downtown waterfront area, this is suitable for visitors looking to relax after a long journey or to explore the city, harbor and waterfront. The rooms are wonderfully designed retreats from the city outside, and all have different views. The hotel has its own car park and is adjacent to the many shops, cafes and restaurants of the new harbor development but also just across the road from the ferry piers which offer regular services to the North Shore and Hauraki Gulf Islands.

Sustainably built from the ground up, Hotel Britomart not only visually displays its green goals with locally designed textiles, stoneware, and artwork but also throughout its daily operations. This is represented through locally made bathroom products and hotel uniforms, as well as a plastic-free policy, low energy operations, and environmentally friendly waste management and composting.

OUR OPINION:

A luxury accommodation with an eco-friendly design that is centrally located in the historic district of Auckland, where you will find some of the top dining and shopping outlets in the city.

Rooms

The Hotel Britomart features 99 timber lined guest rooms and five suites. The guest rooms, comprising Laneway, Galway and Waitemata room-types, are 22 sq m in size and come with snug timber-lined walls, beautifully tiled bathrooms, built-in sofas, hand-made ceramics and minibars full of locally sourced treats. The main difference between room-types is the view that they afford. Laneway rooms, as their name suggests, overlook the laneway or street, Galway rooms overlook the wider Britomart neighborhood and the plant-filled, pedestrian-friendly avenue at the hotel's entrance, while Waitemata rooms look across the docks to the prettiest of Auckland's harbors, the Waitematā.

Location

The Hotel Britomart is located within Auckland's fashionable and vibrant Britomart precinct, which is home to over 65 designer boutiques, bars and health and beauty establishments, while also being within easy walking distance of the city's waterfront and major attractions. The hotel is adjacent to the Britomart transport center, which is Auckland's main train station, and is a short walk from the city's main ferry terminal.

Food and drink

Named in celebration of the kingfish, kingi, is a restaurant that offers fresh, locally sourced food in thoughtful, approachable ways. Located just steps from the hotel lobby on the ground floor of the heritage Masonic Building (which has been refurbished as part of The Hotel Britomart project), kingi introduces guests at the hotel to the city, and welcomes Aucklanders with an easy-going warmth that tells them it’s their place, too. Open for everything from early-morning coffee to drinks, snacks and fuller plates at night, kingi also offers The Hotel Britomart guests selected items as a room service menu throughout the day. The hotel also features a number of private dining options as part of its 'Library' collection, perfect for those that are staying as part of a group.

Facilities and activities

The hotel features an on-site gym with Technogym equipment and guest and visitor valet parking.
