Nestled in the Hafslo mountainside within the innermost section of Sognefjord, Bestebakken Hotel was originally a small mountain farm that’s now been converted into a charming boutique hotel. The bright-yellow building retains much of its welcoming, intimate character, with just 14 rooms.
You can choose to eat all three meals in the dining room, which serves a menu that features ingredients from the hotel’s own garden as well as local distributors. Dinner is a set menu, with either three or six courses, which are served at the long, banquet-style table where you have the chance to mingle with other guests. You can also enjoy the Jacuzzi or book treatments at the spa.
We love this hotel for its traditional Norwegian character and intimate atmosphere, as well as the exceptional food. And, of course, the main draw is the photogenic setting overlooking Lake Hafslo.
