Grande Roche Hotel

The Grande Roche is justifiably one of the most famous hotels in South Africa. Although right in the heart of Paarl, the hotel feels well removed from the daily grind, surrounded by fields of vines on the gentle slope of Paarl rock and with stunning views out over the surrounding mountains. The heart of the hotel is built in the historic farm buildings and the rest of the hotel has been built in an exact copy of the same style, with lime-washed walls and thatched roofs.

The rooms are not all in one block, but spread over a number of smaller buildings, which are joined by finely manicured lawns shaded by pretty trees and decorated with a wealth of rose bushes. The overall effect is absolutely enchanting. This remarkable attention to detail extends to the rooms, the most popular of which are the terraced suites. All the rooms and suites are spacious and decorated in classic, luxurious style.

Bosman's Restaurant is arguably the most famous in the Winelands, and wins countless awards for the superb cuisine, faultless service and wonderful formal setting. For those wanting something low key, the pool bar also serves excellent food.
