Santo Maris

Santo Pure

Santorini, Greece

Sleek, stylish and spacious, Santo Pure has all the conveniences of a larger resort, yet with 55 rooms it also offers guests the personal attention and exclusivity one would expect from a smaller hotel.

The location of the hotel on the north side of Oia rather than in the cliff of the caldera, affords the property a number of benefits: the hotel can be accessed directly by car, unlike hotels in the caldera; rooms are brighter and more spacious than many of the other hotels in Oia; and the property has ample space for multiple pools, and a large spa. The location also means that most rooms and public areas of the hotel have views of the renowned pink and orange Santorini sunsets for which Oia is well known, without the shoulder to shoulder crowds on the streets of Oia.

Throughout, the style of the hotel is open and airy with the typical Santorini white decor and simple, modern interiors in a designer style. Each room has a private balcony and kitchenette and higher room categories have private pools. Breakfast choices are wide-ranging and the restaurant offers impressive Cretan cuisine as well as dramatic views.

OUR OPINION:

Santo Pure is a great choice for visitors who want a chic, stylish property in Oia, but don’t want to deal with the dozens of stairs and the tiny rooms of the caldera.

Rooms

The property’s 55 rooms are all suites and junior suites, offering guests much more space than is typical of Oia hotels. Decor is bright and comfortable with polished concrete, woven rugs, copper and brass accents and splashes of rustic basketwork that add local character. Most rooms benefit from sea and sunset views and all rooms have a private veranda, kitchenette, minibar, free Wi-Fi, and TV. Upgraded rooms also have private Jacuzzis or pools which make for the ideal sunset viewing location.

Location

The hotel is set in the north part of Oia town. Approaching by car from the main entrance, the location feels quiet and secluded, yet a five-minute walk down a pedestrian path takes guests right into Oia. The location means that guests enjoy the same dramatic sunsets for which Oia is so renowned, without the massive crowds which flock to the lanes of central Oia.

Food and drink

The main restaurant, Alios Ilios, serves a menu of Cretan-inspired cuisine in a stylish dining room and on an outdoor terrace. In the mornings, an extensive buffet breakfast is served that includes options such as pies and pancakes as well as fresh olive pastes and local tomatoes and feta. Throughout the day, light meals and snacks are served at the pool bar, and a cocktail bar operates in the evenings.

Facilities and activities

One of the most attractive facilities of the property is the abundance of swimming pools. Each small group of rooms has its own pool, five in total, so the water and the deck areas are never too crowded. The property also offers a gym as well as a large, peaceful spa with a spacious heated pool, hammam and full menu of services.

Accessibility

Unlike many hotels in Oia, Santo Pure can be accessed by car, and there are adapted rooms available.
