We love the combination of authentic Icelandic style and modern luxury at Torhús Retreat. A soak in the hot pools is the perfect way to round off a busy day of exploring.

Rooms

Each of the cottages is decorated in a rustic-chic style, with wooden walls, floors and headboards, muted tones and touches of the local landscape throughout. A fully furnished kitchen, living space and a veranda comes as standard, with the larger cottages also featuring an extra bedroom and exclusive use of their own geothermal basalt pool, rather than a shared one.

Location

Torfhús is situated a short distance from the famous Geysir and enormous Gullfoss waterfall, making it well situated for exploring Iceland’s Golden Circle. Torfhús runs entirely on geothermal and hydroelectric energy, as well as using local materials in the construction and furnishings of each cottage.

Food and drink

Meals in the Viking Longhouse are excellent, with a focus on local ingredients and traditional cuisine. Dining at Torfhús is a culinary experience, with a set menu that changes each night and is seasonally dependent — the chef sources most ingredients from within a ten mile radius of the property.
