Formerly a 15th-century monastery, the Kruisherenhotel mixes chic modern design with the unmistakable features of a Gothic church. The wide-open nave has been repurposed to include a reception area and stairs leading up to a dining room that seems to float under the barrel-vaulted ceilings. From the restaurant, you’ll be face-to-face with the massive Gothic windows.
The manicured grounds still retain the tranquillity of a monastery, and the old gardens have been transformed into a courtyard for guests. When the weather is warm, you can enjoy drinks and lunch out on the terrace, surrounded by the blackened stones of the church.
The 60 rooms are spread between the former monastery, the gatekeeper’s residence and the Casa Nova villa, though all the rooms have a modern feel.
We like that this monastery-turned-hotel offers modern comfort, as well as historic design elements and a convenient location.

There are 60 rooms at the Kruisherenhotel, divided among the old monastery, the Gatekeeper’s Residence and the Casa Nova building. The rooms are Cosy (monastery, Casa Nova), Cosy Plus (monastery), Signature (all), and Signature Plus (Casa Nova, monastery). There are three types of suites in the monastery: Junior suite, Kruisherensuite and Bridal suite.
