Treetops Lodge

Located within 10 sq km (4 sq miles) of native bush and only half an hour drive from Rotorua, Treetops Lodge is the ultimate in privacy. The owner created the lodge based on an elegant architectural style, derived from New Zealand's pioneering past. Timber and stone finishes echo the beauty and simplicity of the surrounding great outdoors.

The separate villas are secluded within this eco-wilderness park, with further suites in the main lodge itself. The villas feature a sumptuous bedroom, spacious bathroom with spa bath, lavish lounge with fireplace and small kitchenette.

The rooms within the lodge are slightly more modest, but have the added advantage of a separate communal living area and kitchen, opening out to views of the valley, making this a great option for families or couples holidaying together.

The main lodge houses a timber-panelled library, with historic Māori artworks adorning the walls. Curl up here with a novel beside the blazing fire, or watch the swirling stream as it flows past the lodge. There’s also a stylish games room, complete with antique billiard table, and memorabilia from the pioneering days. The conservatory and courtyards are suitable for enjoying the morning sun with your breakfast, and the chef provides a four-course menu each evening in the licensed dining room.

To maximise your enjoyment of this location, many activities are available. There are seven trout streams, four lakes, over 70 km (43 miles) of hiking trails, mountain bike riding, horse riding, archery and 4x4 drive trips.
