The Amanpuri has one of the best locations on Phuket. Its 70 pavilions and spacious villas are set in palm groves or overlook the pristine Pansea Beach, without doubt one of the finest bays on the island.
For the active, there is a comprehensive range of facilities including a 20-metre lap pool and an excellent gym with stunning views of the ocean. For relaxation, the spa is considered one of the best in the Aman portfolio and complimentary guided yoga and meditation sessions are offered at sunrise. A number of fine restaurants include Naoki, serving original French kaiseki fare, combining the best of French techniques with Japanese artistry.
This is the original Aman property and one that raised standards for luxury resorts around the world. Many guests find they don't want to go anywhere else afterwards and return year after year.

Rooms
All room types have an outdoor sala with a sundeck and dining terrace, oversized bathrooms and spacious dressing areas.
Location
On Pansea Beach in the north of Phuket, Amanpuri has what seems like a private beach with great views out toward the sunset.
You can walk to other bars and restaurants, and a short taxi ride will take you to all manner of shopping and attractions.
Food and drink
The Terrace Restaurant offers casual all-day dining in an alfresco setting whilst The Restaurant serves Italian cuisine and is open for dinner year-round and lunch during high season. Both are next to the resort’s main swimming pool.
Lunch can be enjoyed at the Beach Terrace, while Naoki, set just behind the beach and open during the high season, serves chef Naoki Okumura’s blends of French technique with Japanese artistry.
The Bar offers poolside drinks and snacks throughout the day, and at dusk, half a dozen moulded brass tables and pairs of teak, rattan-backed chairs are set out along the terrace between the pool and the steps to the beach for guests to enjoy the sunset.
Families
Children are welcome and there is a kids' pool as well as several good choices for family accommodation.
Facilities and activities
Amanpuri’s beach is set with loungers and beach attendants serve light refreshments as well as cool cocktails, cold towels and ice.
Complimentary windsurfing, snorkelling, sea kayaking and bodyboarding are available — the best snorkelling is above the coral reef located between the swimming platform and headland. Waterskiing is also available for a charge.
All activities are available between December and April, weather and tide permitting.
There are five golf courses within a 30- to 40-minute drive of Amanpuri.
Diving
Amanpuri works with a PADI centre, offering accredited dive courses as well as diving excursions.
Racha Island, less than 15 kilometres south of Phuket, is one of the most beautiful destinations in the region. Shark Point is a shallow dive (about 10 metres). It is famous for tame leopard sharks, bright purple sea anemones and schools of moray eels.
Spa Facilities
The Aman Spa at Amanpuri was Aman Resorts’ first full-service spa.
Six spacious Thai-style treatment pavilions offer an open, light-filled space of wood and glass with private steam room, shower, bath, dressing area and outdoor meditation sala.
The extensive Aman Spa menu includes a range of healing therapies and traditional treatments using organic ingredients.
