Well-known in Portugal for its highly-respected winery, Quinta Nova is set in a converted 18th-century manor with its own tiny chapel. A stay feels more like a visit to a beautifully-restored farmhouse than a hotel, with the surrounding gardens offering panoramic views across terraced hillsides of vineyards and the precipitous slopes of the Duoro River valley.
The hotel is located just half an hour from Pinhão and about two hours from Porto and has 11 rooms spread between the main manor house and an annex. All rooms are fresh and bright with comfy white linens and floral touches. Large windows allow in plenty of natural light and offer sweeping views of the surrounding countryside.
The hotel also features a museum dedicated to the history of port production and a stay includes a complimentary winery tour. You can also explore the surrounding valley by taking one of several well-marked hiking paths. After a day of exploring, there’s an outdoor pool to relax in, while the main restaurant and more casual tapas bar serve a range of refined regional dishes.
Set in a scenic location in the heart of the Douro Valley, we love the welcoming atmosphere and superb views at the Quinta Nova.
