Mora Boutique

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Open, minimalist spaces take pride of place at Mora Boutique Hotel, a tranquil stay just outside of Chiang Rai’s main hub of markets, museums, and temples. The hotel is designed in a modern Northern Thai style with a sleek monochrome palette, sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows, and smatterings of ornaments reflective of the region’s culture.

A relaxed base for exploring the city and surrounding rice terraces, Mora Boutique Hotel offers a large outdoor pool, serene spa facilities, and contemporary rooms with elegant wooden furnishings, freestanding baths, and views across the city or the pool.

Some of Chiang Rai’s best street food is just a short walk away, though far enough to maintain the hotel’s peaceful character. However, you can also eat at the on-site restaurant for a more private Thai dining experience. While the facilities here aren’t grand, the personal and attentive service you receive is what makes a stay here so memorable.

OUR OPINION:

Mora Boutique Hotel’s understated decor and tucked-away feel always helps to replenish our energy after a busy day zipping around the city’s temples and markets.

Rooms

The hotel offers four room choices each furnished with modern dark-wood accents. They all accommodate up to three people. There are two deluxe room types, one with views over the city and a twin-bed option, and the other looking out at the pool with its own private balcony. If you like your rooms a little more spacious, you can opt for a suite — a slightly larger version of the standard rooms. All rooms offer air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, a TV, and a freestanding bath and separate shower set-up.

Location

In under 15 minutes, you can stroll to the sizzling street food of Chiang Rai Night Bazaar, the cultural exhibits of the Hilltribe Museum, and the city’s elaborate gilded clock tower. A 20-minute drive away, you can also visit the gleaming-white temple complex of Wat Rong Khun or venture further into the dense greenery and remote villages of the Golden Triangle’s countryside.

Food and drink

A compact hotel, Mora has one restaurant, which covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In this small eatery, a collection of regional ornaments and vibrant portraits of hilltribe women add a lively accent to the hotel’s monochrome decor. Here, you can enjoy a range of cuisines, including Northern Thai dishes such as green curry served in a coconut shell and fragrant prawn soup.

Families

Due to Mora Boutique Hotel’s three-person limit on all rooms, it may only be suitable for small families or those who want to book multiple rooms. All rooms have the option of adding a rollaway single bed or crib, but we recommend the family suite for the extra space.

Facilities and activities

  • Well-equipped gym
  • Spa offering a variety of treatments
  • Outdoor swimming pool
  • Laundry service
  • Bikes to rent
  • Concierge service

Accessibility

This hotel isn’t suitable for those who need wheelchair or hearing-accessible rooms. If you have specific access needs, our specialists can help suggest a suitable alternative.
