The Manor House

The Cotswolds, The UK

A charming manor in the peaceful Cotswolds countryside, The Manor House provides a quiet retreat. Surrounded by enchanting woods and fields and the thatched stone cottages of Castle Combe, one of England’s most picturesque villages, the hotel is still easily accessible to the sights and sounds of Bath.

From the impressive sweeping driveway to the grand, wood-paneled interiors, The Manor House is an imposing yet welcoming property. The Bybrook is the Michelin-starred on-site restaurant, serving fresh, seasonal meals, accompanied by an extensive wine list. The Manor House also provides a number of outdoor activities to ensure that guests are sufficiently entertained during their stay, as well as a delicious daily afternoon tea.

Rooms

Rooms at The Manor House are divided between the main house and the cottages behind. Each room at The Manor House is individually styled, so no two are alike. However, all feature handmade mattresses and comforting, neutral hues. Guests can also select from a pillow menu at bedtime to ensure that they are given a proper night’s rest. Rooms also provide tablets for guests to enhance their stay. In suites, guests can opt for special amenities such as bathtubs or classic four-poster beds.

Location

The Manor House is located in Castle Combe, a charming Cotswolds village. Displaying typical countryside homes built with Cotswold stone, the village has been a popular filming location for movies such as War Horse and Stardust. The hotel is well-located for exploring the history and vibrancy of the nearby city of Bath as well as Stonehenge.

Food and drink

The Manor House features options including Michelin-starred dining, afternoon tea and a relaxing bar area. The laid-back Full Glass Bar makes a lovely place to unwind at the end of the day and was once frequented by Margaret Thatcher, who wrote her memoirs here. In the Michelin-starred Bybrook, chef Rob Potter prepares a gourmet menu of elevated Cotswolds classics.

Families

A special afternoon tea menu can be arranged for children.

Facilities and activities

The Manor House provides plenty of outdoor activities for guests to enjoy. Not least among these is its own extensive 18-hole golf course, residing within the hotel’s beautiful woods and parkland. The hotel also features outdoor giant chess and croquet. There is also a tennis court, and the hotel can even provide private coaching with advance notice for a fee.

Accessibility

The Manor House has one room designated as an accessible room for guests with limited mobility. The room has handrails for extra support and modifications in the bathroom. The hotel can also provide refrigerators for any medication upon request.
