Join a professional wildlife photographer on an Isle of Lewis safari to spot stags, otters, and eagles.
The peaty moorland, secluded lochs, and rocky peaks of the Isle of Lewis make it a haven for deer, otters, eagles, and many other species. On this private tour, you’ll set out with a professional wildlife photographer for the best chance of spotting these animals in their natural environment.
Your driver-guide will meet you at the Ravenspoint Centre in the morning, then take you along winding roads deep into the untamed Scottish countryside to the top wildlife-viewing locations. There’s no set route, so the trip can be designed entirely around you and the animals you’re most interested in seeing.
That might mean heading into the hills in search of majestic antlered stags, or journeying to the coast to catch sight of sleek otters hunting for fish along the shoreline or washing their coats free of salt in a freshwater loch. You’ll have binoculars to hand, which you can turn to the skies to spy white-tailed eagles, golden eagles, and hen harriers soaring on the currents.
The experience lasts approximately six hours, with a break for lunch at the Ravenspoint Centre cafe. There’s also a small museum on site, where you can discover more about the area’s history and folklore before or after your tour. The summer months provide the best opportunity for viewing wildlife, but many species can be seen year-round.
