Once the former home to Lord Snowdon and the Armstrong-Jones family, Plas Dinas offers a luxury retreat in rural North Wales. This 5-star country house is nestled within 15 acres of land, located between the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri) and the Irish Sea, and is only a short drive from the historic town of Caernarfon. There are many opportunities to explore, whether it be hiking in the nearby landscape, visiting the historic castles of the region, or stepping aboard a traditional steam train for spectacular views of the countryside.

Due to its royal heritage, Plas Dinas is also home to many original historical artifacts, making it a worthy visit for those interested in the British monarchy. Each bedroom is named after a member of the esteemed Armstrong-Jones family and echoes the unique characters who once lived there.

The Gunroom Restaurant offers an award-winning fine dining experience using the best of Welsh produce.

This is a beautiful and quintessential Welsh retreat and only a short distance from Snowdonia National Park and the quaint town of Caernarfon.

Rooms

With only 11 rooms onsite, each is individually styled and uniquely named after a member of the Armstrong-Jones family. From the elegant Lady Buckley room, to the stylish Snowdon room, all are fitted to a high standard, with antique furnishings and an ensuite bathroom complete with a traditional roll top bath. Two of the rooms can be set in a twin bed configuration. Other amenities include bathrobes and slippers, as well as complimentary Welsh fudge, sherry and biscuits.

Location

To explore more of the surrounding area, the property is ideally located with Snowdonia National Park on its doorstep. The charming town of Caernarfon is only a 10 minute drive away and the Isle of Anglesey is also within driving distance.

Food and drink

The property’s award-winning Gunroom restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide, offering a seasonal taster menu that changes monthly, prepared using fresh and local ingredients. Breakfast includes both traditional Welsh cuisine as well as lighter options, with afternoon tea also available during certain days of the week.

Families

This property is not suitable for families with young children, only children over the age of 12 are eligible to stay.
