Hotel Reichsküchenmeister

Hotel Reichsküchenmeister

Rothenburg, Germany

Traditional and hospitable, the Hotel Reichsküchenmeister is one of the oldest hotels in Bavaria. As you step inside the main building you might sense an atmosphere of time standing still, as the hotel has remained largely unchanged for 800 years. The half-timbered and pastel painted exterior complementing the historic surroundings.

Reichsküchenmeister effectively translates as “Master Chefs of the Empire”, the name not referring to the hotel’s culinary pursuits, but rather with its history of maintaining law and order in the town of Rothenburg. Unsurprisingly for somewhere so old, the building has hosted many notable figures throughout history, such as Emperor Ferdinand I, and Roman Emperor Charles V in the 16th century.

Despite the age of the building, you will not compromise on comfort during a stay here. There are several dining options, picturesque places to enjoy a drink, and an on-site spa which is complimentary for hotel guests.

OUR OPINION:

This hotel is a great example of Bavarian hospitality and a family-run hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the city and the biergarten is a delightful spot enjoy a drink with fellow guests and locals.
