Masseria Montenapoleone is ideal for those wishing to experience the history and charm of the Puglia countryside in a comfortable, stylish setting. The warm, welcoming feel of the hotel is a testament to the fact that the property is still family owned and run. Antique cars, copper pots, hammocks, and old sewing machines among other antiques, are displayed throughout the property, lending a characterful but tasteful whimsy to each of the rooms and public areas. There’s always something interesting to examine in every nook and cranny, yet never a feeling of clutter. Each of the 20 rooms is unique, but all rooms maintain the tasteful pairing of traditional antiques with modern luxury. Wood beamed ceilings and rough-hewn stone compliment plush pillows and linens and modern bathroom fixtures.

This attention to detail extends to the property’s attention to cuisine and agriculture as well. The working organic farm and groves which surround the hotel produce the olive oil which is used in the restaurants well as a number of other ingredients. A focus on organic production and seasonal ingredients is a priority, and there’s even a stocked communal kitchen where guests are welcome to prepare their own snacks.

Guests also enjoy a number of facilities and activities on site such as the massive swimming pool surrounded by comfortable sun loungers, olive oil and wine tastings throughout the week, and beaches just a five-minute drive away.

OUR OPINION:

As one of the most unique and characterful hotels in Puglia, we really think Masseria Montenapoleone is a memorable and special place which does an excellent job of combining traditional Pugliese charm with modern comfort.

Rooms

Each of the 20 rooms at Masseria Montenapoleone is unique. The architecture of the ancient masseria has been maintained, so today the layout and size of each room varies. However all rooms maintain a tasteful blend of traditional antiques and modern conveniences which runs throughout the property. The traditional Pugliese white walls are complimented by wood beamed ceilings and unfinished stone features. Many rooms have an independent entrance, creating a feel of autonomy and allowing access to the gardens. All rooms have Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

Location

Situated among ancient olive groves, almond and citrus trees, Masseria Montenapoleone is just a short drive from both the town of Fasano and the beaches of eastern Puglia. The local town of Pezze di Greco is just a few minutes’ drive away and offers simple local restaurants and shops.

Food and drink

All the food and dining options focus on locally sourced organic ingredients. In fact, much of what is used in the kitchens is produced at the masseria’s working farm and garden. A fresh breakfast of homemade pastries, fruits, cheeses, and meats is served each morning in the characterful breakfast room which was once the stables of the masseria. There is both outdoor space surrounded by flowers creeping up the walls, and an indoor area. The main restaurant, La Falegnameria, serves delicious and well-presented traditional, rustic dishes.

Facilities and activities

A variety of activities are available onsite from biking, to wine and local produce tastings. There is also an outdoor pool in the gardens, and the beaches on the Adriatic are just 10 to 15 minutes’ drive away. The hotel's grounds are extensive and there are plenty of walks that can be done among the olive groves within the property.
