Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand

One of the most famous hotels in the world, the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok offers luxurious surroundings by the banks of the lively Chao Phraya River. For over 130 years this magnificent hotel has been welcoming guests to its 358 rooms and 35 suites. With its own boats to navigate the famous river, the Mandarin Oriental represents the last word in style and colonial heritage.

One of the most famous parts of the hotel is the Authors' Lounge, well known for its afternoon tea served with scones, finger sandwiches, sweets and savories. The Authors' Lounge also boasts a well stocked library, with signed letters from famous authors on the charming walls. The lounge is named after some of the hotel's most famous guests, with authors from Joseph Conrad to Barbara Cartland having stayed here.
